High School

Learners applying their skills and knowledge
as they get ready to make a positive impact
in the global community.

At KKFS, our High School program provides a rigorous, college-preparatory education grounded in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and enriched by a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses that challenge students to reach their full potential. Guided by our school motto, Explore, Reflect, Apply, students are encouraged to explore complex subjects and global issues with curiosity, reflect on their identities, goals, and responsibilities, and apply their learning in ways that prepare them for higher education and future careers. Our eight Character Traits continue to guide their personal development, fostering character-driven graduates who lead with integrity, empathy, and grit. Through our Schoolwide Learning Outcomes (SLOs), critical thinking, communication, creativity, technology, mindfulness, and cultural empathy, students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to thrive in university, the workplace, and an interconnected world. In addition, personalized college counseling and university readiness support ensure that each student is equipped with the courage to pursue the pathway that best matches their aspirations.

High School Student Stories – Mahia (Grade 9)

What does being part of this school mean to you?
To me, being a part of this school is like having a second family. I’ve been in the school for 4 years now, and everyone around me is familiar with me. I know everyone, and they always help me get through stuff. Even when I’m having a bad day, they will ask me things like “How is it going?” or “What’s wrong?” One thing about having a family is that they are always there for you. And my school family at KKFS always provides the same amount of support for me. So to me, that’s what being part of this school community means.

What motivates you to do your best in school?
The people around me, especially my friends, are the people who motivate me the most in school. Ever since I joined the school starting in fifth grade, I have always seen my classmates as my inspiration because they have always been the ones who are motivating me to keep trying, and they’re always the ones who tell me that I have done well, and I can still do better.

High School Student Stories – Amirbek (Grade 10)

What does being part of this school mean to you?
Being part of this school means being in a community where I get to see my friends and peers every day. I like that I can keep learning and growing while also having fun. Since it’s a smaller school, we all get to know each other better, which makes it feel more like a family. In bigger schools, people can just blend in, but here I feel noticed and supported. It’s a place where I can learn, make close friends, and feel like I really belong.

What motivates you to do your best in school?
Being able to work with friends and people close to me is one of the most motivating parts of school. It’s more meaningful when you are able to accomplish something as a team or a group than when you do it by yourself. I also want to do my best so I can be strong academically and build a brighter future. Another thing that motivates me at KKFS is being able to submit extra credit. It gives me the chance to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them without feeling scared to try.
