Our Grade 3 students took a break from their desks

Our Grade 3 students took a break from their desks today to step into the shoes, or rather, the metal feet, of Roz the robot! To dive deeper into Peter Brown’s beloved story, students worked in teams to create a "tableau," using their bodies and facial expressions to freeze-frame a pivotal scene from the book.

This creative exercise is a perfect example of how we Explore literature at KKFS. Instead of just reading the words, students must Apply their understanding of the plot and characters to convey complex emotions without saying a single word. It requires an incredible amount of communication and collaboration to ensure every "statue" in the scene tells part of the story. 🤖

What happens when water meets earth?🌍 Our students found out today in a high-energy science simulation! By using water and soil to model rainfall, our learners got a front-row seat to the powerful forces of erosion that shape our entire planet.

This morning's learning goal was all about observation and description. Our young scientists worked to identify exactly how water changes the shape of the land, turning a complex geological process into a hands-on discovery. This challenge required a great deal of Critical Thinking and Communication as they documented every shift in their miniature landscapes. 💧⛰️

It was inspiring to see so much Curiosity in action as they literally reshaped the earth!

Our Computer Class had the incredible opportunity to visit Samsung Electronics to learn about their work and tour their museum. Seeing innovation in action, from design to production, gave our students real insight into how technology shapes the world around us.

It usually takes millions of years for rocks to transform, but today our grade 7 students sped up the clock!

Using wax models to simulate Earth's crust, our young geologists replicated the complex forces of nature—weathering, intense pressure, and extreme heat—that drive the Rock Cycle.

This hands-on experiment allowed students to Explore the physical properties of our planet and Apply their understanding of geological forces in real-time. By transforming 'sediment' into sedimentary, metamorphic, and finally igneous rock, they visualized how matter cycles through our planet’s systems.

It’s a powerful lesson in Critical Thinking and Curiosity, turning abstract concepts into tangible discoveries.

What happens when river temperatures drop too low for local wildlife to thrive? Our students use their curiosity to find a fix!

In this hands-on lab, our Grade 7 students designed and prototyped sustainable heating devices using exothermic reactions to help the local Blue Catfish population. At KKFS, we believe that Empathy for our planet, combined with Critical Thinking, leads to incredible innovation. 🐟✨
